The Blue Jays got a huge lift on Tuesday when Daulton Varsho was reinstated from the injured list after missing the start of the season. And it didn't take long for him to make an impression for a scuffling Blue Jays team.

After making an incredible catch in his season debut, Varsho has already crushed two home runs and helped jump start an offense that was stuck in neutral.

Note: all stats are through Thursday's games.

Daulton Varsho has been everything the Blue Jays needed

Varsho making such a quick impact shouldn't come as much a surprise given his track record. The 2023 Heart and Hustle award winner was coming off a season where he won both a Gold Glove and Platinum Glove, and had been hinting about how he wanted to hit the ground running once he got back to MLB.

While his incredible behind-the-back catch came in a losing effort, it served as a tangible example that all of Toronto once again has front row tickets to the "Varshow."

His return to the lineup had been a long time coming for the Blue Jays after his strong spring training performance. Varsho mashed four home runs in 12 spring training games but was forced to miss the first month of the season while he was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

The Blue Jays have been playing solid baseball since Varsho returned. They picked a walk-off win over the Red Sox on Wednesday (his second game of the season), while they picked up a come-from-behind win on Thursday.

He's homered in back-to-back games and boasts a 1.362 OPS through three games.

This is the perfect time for Varsho to silence the critics and show that he can be a worthwhile piece for the future for the Blue Jays.

Varsho had Blue Jays fans dreaming of his potential when the Blue Jays acquired him after he mashed a career-high 27 home runs with the Blue Jays in 22. While he was a bit of a disappointment at the plate in his first two years with Toronto (.217 average and 38 home runs), he's off to a great start this season.

For the Blue Jays to have a shot to make the postseason, he'll need to be at his best.

This is also a big year for Varsho individually. He has one more year of arbitration before hitting free agency, so a strong rebound season could help set up him up for monetary sucess in the arbitration process.

HIs presence in the lineup helps everyone in Toronto's lineup as well. He's hit at the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots in the lineup in his first three games, which provided some much-needed length to a lineup that's struggling. It's not a coicidence that the Blue Jays have homered in every game that Varsho's been in the lineup.

While Varsho can't fix all of Toronto's problems, the past 72 hours have shown that he's the kind of player you need on a winning team.
