It took all of one game for Daulton Varsho to make an impact for the Toronto Blue Jays.

On Tuesday, Varsho made his regular season debut for the Blue Jays after he missed the start of the season with a shoulder injury.

And while Varsho went 0-for-3 at the plate in a 10-2 Blue Jays loss, he turned in what might be the catch of the year in the field.

Varsho's catch was something that you need to see to believe.

But even if you see it, words don't do it justice.

Varsho won the American League Gold Glove in center field last year (along with taking home the league's Platinum Glove) and he showed that off on the play — albeit in an interesting way.

The ball left Jarren Duran's bat at 105.4 miles per hour, which is the biggest reason why it had an expected batting average of .910.

And while Varsho tracked it perfectly off the bat, he ran into trouble as he approached the warning track and tried to nab the ball.

He slipped once he hit the warning track and ended up with back to the play while he was lying on his stomach, which isn't usually a position you find an outfielder in.

But, in an incredibly heads up play, he spun around and, with his back to the play, just stuck his glove out and made the catch while facing the center field wall.

Varsho's made plenty of highlight reel catches for the Blue Jays since he joined the franchise in 2023, but none of them have ever been anything quite like that.

The catch didn't end up meaning much in the grand scheme of things since it occured when the Blue Jays were down 7-2 in a 10-2 loss.

While Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his second home run of the year, the Blue Jays were behind from the jump thanks to a leadoff home run from Duran.

Bowden Francis surrendered seven earned runs on eight hits in three innings and, perhaps most alarmingly, gave up five home runs. Along with giving up the solo homer to Duran, he also allowed home runs to Alex Bregman, Kristian Campbell, Rafael Devers and Wilyer Abreu.

Guerrero's home run was one of four hits for the Blue Jays. Two of them came from Bo Bichette and the other was a single off the bat of Ernie Clement.

The Blue Jays now have a three-game losing streak and sit at 13-16. Varsho's presence in the lineup is great (and his fun catch was exciting), but the Blue Jays need to do more as a team to make sure that those exciting moments happen in wins.
