George Springer set the tone for the Toronto Blue Jays right out of the gates when the calendar flipped to July. His performance on Canada Day against the New York Yankees could be looked at as a pivitol turning point for the Blue Jays in 2025. The 35-year-old hit two home runs and drove in seven runs in a 12-5 win over division rivals New York.
Springer had a massive series overall against the Yankees as the Blue Jays overtook the Bronx Bombers in the standings and haven't looked back since. He hit four home runs, drove in 11 runs and got the Blue Jays on a roll that would take them right to the top of the American League.
But it wasn't just the series against the Yankees where Springer was hot. While Addison Barger, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also had great months, Springer led the group with seven home runs, 24 runs scored and slashed .371/.451/.640 and a 1.091 OPS - all numbers that paced the Blue Jays offense. He also had three stolen bases, more than any other Blue Jays' player in July and came up with clutch plays such as this one on July 23 in a rematch series against the Yankees where he scored from first on a ball down the left field line.

He was held hitless in just eight of the 23 games he played in the month as the Blue Jays went 17-6 in games Springer played in, and 18-8 overall. He struck out just 14 times with 12 walks. He had a Hard Hit percentage of 49% with 18 of his 33 hits leaving the bat at 100 MPH or harder.
It also looked like Springer was getting even better as the month was winding down. In 11 games after the All-Star break, Springer was slashing .432/.519/.614 with an OPS of 1.133. He had two home runs, 19 hits and had seven walks compared to six strikeouts. However, his month ended in the worst way possible.
On July 29 in Baltimore, Springer took a pitcher to the side of the head and remained face down on the dirt for several minutes. He was able to get up and walk off the field but was placed on the 7-day concussion IL. The Blue Jays are hoping it is a minimum stint but one can never be too cautious with head injuries. While Blue Jays fans wish Springer a speedy recovery, the team will have to find someone to step up in his absence.
