Entering the season, the expectations for the Blue Jays were all over the place. And while they're not a perfect team, they've played well at the start of the season and enter play on Tuesday with a winning record.

And even though they're behind the Red Sox and Yankees in the American League East, they've still brought some positive energy to the diamond and off of it thanks to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signing a 14-year extension with the team..

The Blue Jays ceiling may be higher in 2025 than we initially thought

We took a shot at trying to predict the Blue Jays' ceiling prior to the start of the season, and, after nearly two weeks of play, it seems like we weren't too far off. But that doesn't mean there aren't things that have surprised us.

Starting off has been the impressive emergence of Andrés Giménez and George Springer. While they both were expected to improve in 2025, they've gotten off to incredibly hot starts and are a big reason why the Blue Jays have had the success they've had.

Giménez has already slugged three home runs and driven in seven runs, which has helped him generate a wRC+ of 150 He is already a third of the way to his 2024 home run total, and the trade for him already looks like a win.

Springer is also off to a fast start after having the worst season of his career last year. He's hitting .415 with eight RBI, and his advanced metrics are making it seem like he may be turning a corner.

Toronto also been benefitting from getting strong starts from high leverage arms like Jeff Hoffman and Yimi García. Their effectiveness to make games shorter. Hoffman already has three saves, five strikeouts, and a 1.69 ERA, while Garcia has two holds and a save and has yet to alllow a run in six apperances.

There is a lot to be excited for with this Blue Jays team, but it is still early.

It feels like this start has raised the teams' ceiling, but time will tell if that statement holds across the 162-game season.
