One of the best parts of spring training is the ability to watch a team's prospects get their chance to make an impression on the same field as bonafide MLB players and established stars.
Today, the Blue Jays front office will get a chance to see how those prospects play with each other in Toronto's Spring Breakout game against the Minnesota Twins.
The Spring Breakout, which was introduced last year features sixteen exhibition games played between teams made up of each MLB organization’s top prospects.
The Blue Jays will get their turn to today when they take on the Twins will start at 1:05 p.m. at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida. The game will be available to steam on Sportsnet+.
Probable starting pitchers
RHP Jake Bloss (0-2, 9.00 ERA, 6 K) vs. TBD
Bloss, who was acquired from Houston at the trade deadline last year, will get the start for the Blue Jays in a game that should feature plenty of pitching changes.
Bloss is in the midst of a rough spring, as he's allowed multiple runs in three of his four appearances. That said, he's coming off an outing where he threw three scoreless innings against the Astros on Monday. Some other Blue Jays pitchers who could come in behind Bloss and Kendry Rojas, Khal Stephen and Mason Fluharty, among others.
The Twins have yet to announce their starters for the game.

While this lineup is beaming with potential, we're most excited to see how Nimmala does. He's played well in the short time he's spent in MLB camp, and seems primed for a big game against fellow prospects. He's the No. 1 prospect in the Blue Jays' system per MLB Pipeline, so there should be plenty of eyes on him.
Speaking of eyes, Alan Roden has opened eyes across all of baseball with his performance this spring. Roden's hitting .412 with two home runs and three RBI this spring in 13 games, and appears to be knocking on the door of an Opening Day roster spot... and he's already got the stamp of approval from the general manager.
Orelvis Martinez was the star of Blue Jays' camp early in the season and he'll look to keep that going with a strong performance in the Spring Breakout. He's hitting .333 with one home run this spring, and is MLB Pipeline's No. 10 prospect at second base. His power could help Toronto this season.
McAdoo and Schreck both spent time in MLB camp this spring but weren't able to do much (combined 4-for-28) but both are on the rise in Toronto's system. The same can be said for Dasan Brown, who was given a minor league Gold Glove this week.

The Blue Jays will likely cycle through position players in this matchup as well, but expect to see the starters last a couple innings. The next time you see them, it might be at Rogers Centre.
