Jim Bowden, a former general manager and now writer for the Athletic, recently dropped an interesting quote regarding the Toronto Blue Jays and it really adds a lot more excitement to the upcoming trade deadline.
"They're going to do whatever it takes," Bowden stated on the Foul Territory podcast. He emphasized their willingness to move any prospect to land the players that they believe they need to compete.
The Blue Jays are willing to deal their top prospects at the trade deadline, says @JimBowdenGM.

So what does that mean? Are Arjun Nimmala and Trey Yesavage trade pieces now? Who on the market would even cost either of those? There are so many follow up questions to what this quote could lead to and it is quite exciting to think about.
Jim Bowden's recent quote stating that the Blue Jays are going to go all in this trade deadline indicates big things this year.
Moving on from either Nimmala or Yesavage would have to be for an absolute star on the market. The only problem is, there really are not that many players that would require a prospect such as either of them. Mitch Keller could be similar to the Jose Berrios trade, possibly costing two top five ranked prospects.
Aside from Keller, players that may cost one of those two top prospects include the Marlins top two arms, Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera. Both are under control for longer than a year and have a ton of upside that could completely shift this rotation into an above average group. The cost of either of the top prospects would hurt the organization in the long run, but for a spot in the playoffs, this type of deal could be worth it.
Yesavage has been every penny worth the first round selectioni n 2024, soaring through the farm system and has reached Double-A after starting in Low-A. He has struggled with control in New Hampshire, but he still has his great strikeout stuff. He is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball that very well could debut in 2026 with ace level upside.
Nimmala has major league caliber defense and has shown great signs in his development by dropping his strikeout by about 10%. Although his other numbers have fallen slightly, that is a great sign and he is showing why he is the top prospect with his improving tools.
Blue Jays must go all in this deadline and now this quote from Bowden makes us feel much more excited about it. Going all in with the top prospects is a major risk though. Afterall, that is what it would have to cost if they are for real about doing whatever it takes.
