Canadians like baseball - that's no secret. Sure, hockey is Canada's national winter game, but when it comes to the Toronto Blue Jays it's not just people in Toronto who are crazy about this team. Just look at the sea of Blue Jays jerseys in stadiums like Seattle, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati and more whenever the Jays come to town. Not to mention the success they are having this season as they sit at the top of the AL East standings.
Despite the love for the team, and the fact the Blue Jays have been around since 1977, and the fact that Canadians have made significant impacts on the game over the last century and a half, there are still ignorant comments directed at Canadian observers like the one the Orioles broadcast team made on Saturday.

Blue Jays troll Orioles right back after walk-off win
Orioles broadcaster and former major leaguer Brian Roberts made a condescending comment about the fans in attendance for booing a pick off - as if he's never heard another teams fan base ever do that in his life. Again, he's a former major league player, and he suggested that that reaction alone makes him question how much do the fans in Canada actually understand about baseball. He tried to "tread lightly" on his comments by saying he needs to be careful before he said, what he said, but it didn't make it any less patronizing.
While that understandably raised the ire of a lot of fans on social media, the Blue Jays X account (formerly Twitter) gave Canadians the last laugh on Saturday afternoon. Following the Blue Jays walk off win over the Orioles, they posted a tweet that said, "We gotta be real careful when we say this, but.... High-IQ fans are the key to being above .500 at home."

The Blue Jays were down 4-2 entering the ninth inning and strung together four hits, a catchers interreference and a sac fly from Alejandro Kirk, to walk off the Orioles 5-4 for their 86th win of the season leading to the Blue Jays timely reply on social media.
