Blue Jays need to monitor these pending free agents during September stretch run

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the final stretch of their regular season now that they are in September. The American League East club will be looking to have a strong month in hopes of sneaking into the playoffs.

No matter how this season ends for the Blue Jays, it will not be surprising in the slightest if they are aggressive in free agency this offseason. It has been a tough season overall for Toronto, so they would be wise to make some additions this offseason to bolster their playoff chances out of the gates.

Recently, FanSided's John Perrotto discussed 10 MLB free agents who are entering a crucial month. Here is a look at a few players from Perrotto's list whom the Blue Jays should be keeping a close eye on during this final stretch.

Seiya Suzuki, DH/OF, Chicago Cubs

One of the Blue Jays' top objectives this offseason should be to add more pop to their lineup. Due to this, Cubs slugger Seiya Suzuki is a player who Toronto should have on their radar.

Suzuki is having another solid season for the Cubs in 2026, as he has posted 24 home runs, 80 RBI, and a .276 batting average. This is after he set career highs with 32 home runs and 103 RBI in 151 games for Chicago last season. If he continues to make an impact at the plate for Chicago and ends up hitting the market, Toronto should consider pursuing him.

Randy Arozarena, Seattle Mariners, OF

After trading Daulton Varsho to the Houston Astros at the deadline, the Blue Jays would be wise to add another outfielder to their roster this offseason and it would make a lot of sense if Randy Arozarena is on their radar.

Arozarena is a high-impact outfielder who is in the middle of a good season with the Seattle Mariners. In 131 games this campaign with the Mariners, he has recorded 22 home runs, 65 RBI, and a .273 batting average. He has also stolen 20 bases this season, so he could help Toronto in an area they have lacked for several seasons.

Clay Holmes, Chicago Cubs, SP

Clay Holmes is another Cub who the Blue Jays should be watching closely in September. While the 33-year-old pitcher missed a good chunk of this season after fracturing his right fibula, he has been very good for the Cubs since returning.

In five appearances for Chicago so far, he has a 1.55 ERA and 18 strikeouts. This is after he had a 4-4 record and a 2.39 ERA in nine starts for the New York Mets before being traded to the Cubs. With this, he now has a 6-6 record, a 2.09 ERA, and 63 strikeouts in 14 games this season. If he maintains this kind of pitching as the season carries on, it would not be shocking if the Blue Jays pursued him.
