When it comes to Astros players, Yordan Alvarez is the dream target for the Blue Jays. It is clear that the Blue Jays need another star power hitter in their lineup, and making a blockbuster trade for Alvarez would be game-changing for Toronto.
Alvarez is having a monster season for the Astros in 2026, as he has recorded 36 home runs, 91 RBI, and a .318 batting average. He has also hit at least 31 home runs in five out of his last six seasons. With numbers like these, the Blue Jays would be wise to pursue him this offseason. However, the Astros would expect a massive offer for them to even consider moving him.
Jeremy Pena
While Alvarez would be a far bigger addition for the Blue Jays, Jeremy Pena may be a more realistic target for Toronto. The 28-year-old shortstop has been in the rumor mill as a trade candidate for a while now and can be a free agent after the 2027 season. Due to this, he is a player who Houston could very well move for a decent return.
With the Blue Jays needing a boost at the shortstop position, it would be understandable if they tried to land Pena. The former ALCS and World Series MVP would be a strong fit on a Blue Jays club that will be looking to bounce back next year. In 85 games this season with Houston, he has posted 16 home runs, 44 RBI, and a .283 batting average.

Another Astros player who the Blue Jays should keep an eye on is Isaac Paredes. The 27-year-old has a club option this offseason. If the Astros choose to decline it and he hits the free agent market, the Blue Jays should offer him a contract.
