After finishing a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, the Blue Jays swept a seven-game home stand for the first time in franchise history. For a team that played their first season in 1977, this historic moment was a long time coming.

It's a moment that few could say they saw coming this season. When April concluded, the Toronto Blue Jays played to a 14-16 record. In May, momentum started picking up with the Blue Jays finishing the month with a 30-28 record. As the weather warmed up, so to did the Blue Jays and as June was coming to a close, the Blue Jays were breathing down the necks of the New York Yankees.
The win on June 30 over the Yankees to finish June and begin the seven-game home stand was just the start. The Blue Jays were chasing the Yankees for the AL East Division lead, and swept the four-game series. Toronto capped off the home stand in historic fashion with three straight wins over the Angels.
Blue Jays swept a seven-game series for first time ever
The Blue Jays are, overall, riding an eight-game winning streak which has put them in first place in the AL East with a 52-38 record going into Monday's game against Chicago. It's all about the vibes right now as the 2025 Blue Jays are doing everything they can to put themselves in a position to capture the AL East crown for the first time since 2015.

To make the seven-game sweep even sweeter, the Blue Jays jumped over the Yankees in the standings, the team who was in first place heading into the four-game series. The Blue Jays received extra motivation when Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay said the Blue Jays "weren't a first place team." Then, the Blue Jays shut Kay up with that four-game series sweep.
During the seven-game home stand, the Blue Jays got a huge surge from George Springer who hit five home runs and drove in 13 runs. On Canada Day, Springer had seven RBIs in the game.
With his recent hot surge at home, Springer has 16 home runs and 53 RBIs and has raised his average to .281. He has truly been the Blue Jays catalyst this season, leading the Blue Jays in home runs and RBI's.
July was going to be a pivotal month to determine whether or not the Blue Jays could be more of a seller or buyer at the deadline. Now in first place with a three-game lead on the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, July is off to a hot start and there's a chance it could only get better.
The Blue Jays will have three games each against the Chicago White Sox and Athletics. With the White Sox and Athletics both under .500, it can be another chance for the Blue Jays to pad their lead in the AL East before the All-Star Break.
