The Blue Jays just can't seem to catch a break with Daulton Varsho.
Varsho's been a boon to the Blue Jays' lineup since he returned from the injured list last week, but he was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to back tightness.

While we still don't know the severity of the injury, it's never a good sign when anyone's that late of a scratch to a lineup.
Varsho's slashed .214/.353/.643 with two homers, three walks and a stolen base through five games this year, and ahas already made what might be the catch of the season.
While Varsho's clearly the team's top option in center field, they have plenty of depth options they can turn to if he needs to miss any time.
Here's a look at the five best options.
5 options the Blue Jays can consider if Daulton Varsho has to miss time
Myles Straw
Straw's the obvious choice to replace Varsho in center field. The 2022 Gold Glove winner is batting .280 with two stolen bases, a home run, three RBI, and 14 hits on the seaon.

Straw's been excellent in center field this year, as he ranks in the 90th percentile in Outs Above Average this year (two), along with ranking in the 90th percentile in sprint speed at 28.8 feet per second.
Jonatan Clase
Clase made his MLB debut this season as the 27th man for the team's doubleheader, but he's made a strong case to earn a full-time callup. The 22-year-old is hitting .321 in 26 games at Triple-A this season, and could provide a big boost for a Blue Jays team that's been struggling at the plate.

While his hitting abilities/bat are still developing, he has shown promise as a switch-hitter like Anthony Santander, and having another switch-hitter in the lineup would be beneficial for the Blue Jays in the matchup game. He's mostly been a corner outfielder in his career (only eight of his 23 MLB apperances have come in center), but he would work there in a pinch.
Nathan Lukes
Lukes has started to come around this season, as he's hitting .273 with one home run, 8 RBI and 12 hits so far this year. He's gone 7-for-20 over his last eight games.
Lukes worked in a platoon with Straw in center while Varsho was out at the beginning of the year, and it seems like he's starting to turn things around after a rough start to the year.
It seems like Lukes' bat is at the best when he's in the lineup everyday, so the Blue Jays could look to use him as a full-time center fielder if Varsho misses a ton of time.
George Springer
Springer is a natural outfielder who could move to center field after playing mostly in the corners this year. Springer's turned heads with his offense this year (.309 average, three home runs, 13 RBI, five stolen bases), and this would be a good way to keep his bat in the lineup.

He could easily move to center field if needed. Springer could play center field if needed and discussion has already surfaced with him being moved around in the outfield, in addition to Anthony Santander who can also play first base.
Addison Barger
Barger's a valuable piece on the Blue Jays' roster since he's the only player on the current roster who can play both the infield and the outfield.
He turned heads earlier this year when he had three outfield assists in one game, but his bat is still coming around (he's 5-for-36 this year). He's never appeared in center field in the majors, but he's been a plus defender in the corners. He's an option the Blue Jays could consider if they want to think outside of the box.
