With the Toronto Blue Jays and their ongoing encounter with injuries, they often have been forced to turn to their Triple-A affiliate Buffalo Bisons for reinforcements. Whether it has been prospects such as Yohendrick Pinango and Brandon Valenzuela, or players that are just looking for another crack at the major leagues in Eloy Jiménez, Yariel RodrÃguez, Josh Fleming and Austin Voth, they have all ended up with the opportunity to showcase their talents with the big league club over the course of the season thus far.
However, there have been a few Bisons players that have had a strong start to their 2026 minor league campaign, but has yet to get the promotion to the majors by Toronto. But that could change soon as these three players have been tearing it up in the minors.
Which players are potentially the next man up for Toronto from their Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo?
*All stats through Monday May 25*
P Michael Plassmeyer
Michael Plassmeyer joined Toronto on a minor-league deal this past offseason to serve as valuable pitching depth in the organization. Following a decent showing in training camp in which Plassmeyer posted a 1-1 record with a tidy 3.38 ERA along with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched over six appearances with the Blue Jays, the 29-year-old left-hander has carried that momentum into the 2026 season with the Bisons.
He has compiled a 3-0 record with three holds, a 1.33 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, giving up just three earned runs all season with 19 strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work over 17 games played with Buffalo so far this year.
With the Blue Jays having just two lefties in their current bullpen in Mason Fluharty and Chase Lee, Plassmeyer could very well be the next man up pending any injury or ineffectiveness by the former two relievers.
OF RJ Schreck
Blue Jays outfielder prospect RJ Schreck has really come on strong lately after a slow start to 2026. After struggling to just a .143 average, .372 OPS with four runs scored in 13 games in Spring Training with the Jays, Schreck continued some those struggles early on in his 2026 campaign with the Bisons.
However, the 25-year-old outfielder has drastically turned things around in May, amassing a strong .313 batting average, .976 OPS, along with 16 runs scored, eight doubles, two home runs and 17 RBIs in just 19 games of action. He even captured the International League Player of the Week honours in the process. Schreck might not be too far behind for his MLB debut if he keeps hitting the way he has.
INF Charles McAdoo
Finally, we have one of the Blue Jays’ early spring standouts in infielder Charles McAdoo. As the key return in the trade of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and cash considerations to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2024, McAdoo had been on the rapid rise in the Jays’ system over the past couple of years.

This year has been no different as the 24-year-old infielder has been leading the Bisons’ offensive attack so far in 2026. In 48 games with Buffalo, McAdoo has compiled a .251 average, .803 OPS, with 30 runs scored, eight home runs, 27 RBIs, six stolen bases, along with 28 walks and 39 strikeouts in over 195 plate appearances.
More impressively is the fact that he has ascended four minor league levels in just a span of three years and is knocking on the door now for an MLB debut with the Jays. With the likes of Davis Schneider and Lenyn Sosa struggling at the plate so far with Toronto, that promotion of McAdoo could come even sooner than expected.
