Chase Mallard had a really rough night as he allowed 4 runs in the first inning. He would settle down to only lose it again in the 5th inning to allow another 2 runs. He did battle but was bruised up by Snappers hitters. His final line was 5 innings, 10 hits, 6 earned runs, a walk, and a strike out. Things did not get much better as the now red hot Snappers hitters raked in another 3 runs against the bullpen. The Snappers hitters collected a total 14 hits off the Lugnuts which included 7 extra base hits.
The offense showed up but just had to big of a mountain to climb to stay in this one. The Lugnuts collected 11 hits of their own but could not manage to hit them in. Leaving 7 runners on base and batting only 2-9 with runners in scoring position was the down fall. Chris Carlson and Juan Kelly provided 3 hits and an RBI each. Kelly provided the pop as he hit his 3rd homer of the season. The Lugnuts offense just was not enough to catch the Snappers.
Line of the game
Chris Carlson 3-5 with a triple, 2 runs scored, and an RBI
