Buffalo Bisons vs Charlotte Knights (Loss 8-3)
The Herds stellar pitching run has finally been broken. After 7 outstanding performances the Bisons Todd Redmond hit a wall against the Knights. Redmond gave up 5 runs in the first inning. He did figure things out and pitched scoreless innings in the 2nd and 3rd but at the point the damage had already been done. On the other side former Blue Jays Kyle Drabek was in great form. He was his typical wild self as shown by walking 4 Bison hitters but he was able to minimize the damage well and only allowed 2 runs over 5.2 innings. The Bison bullpen did not fair much better as they allowed 3 more runs on 2 homers through the rest of the game. Jason Coats and Rob Brantly touched up the bullpen for 3 runs on the home runs.
Offensively the Bisons just could not cash in their base runners. They batted a combines 2-13 with runners in scoring position. There were plenty of base runners (6 walked batters, 7 hits) but without the timely hitting the offense was stuck in neutral. Dalton Pompey had an excellent night as he collected 2 stolen bases, 2 hits, and a run scored. This could have been a very different game if the offense could have moved some of the base runners around.
Line of the game
Dalton Pompey 2-3 with 2 walks, 2 stolen bases, and a run scored

New Hampshire Fisher Cats @ Richmond Flying Squirrels (Loss 2-3)
The Fisher Cats found themselves in a pitchers duel against Richmond Wednesday. Austin Bidens-Dirkx got things going and pitched 5.1 innings of 4 hits ball. The Squirrels were able to scrape 2 runs together on those 4 hits but Bidens-Dirkx was looking good as he fanned 5 hitters and only walked 1. John Anderson would come on to toss the next 1.2 innings and not surrender a run on only 2 hits. Blake McFarland would come on and eventually allow the walk off hit to Rando Moreno. McFarland allowed back to back singles to start the inning and then intentionally walked the 3rd batter to bring Moreno to the plate where he hit the walk off bloop to win it.
Kevin Nolan had a solid night with 2 hits and was drove in on a Ryan Schimpf double. Later in the game Schimpf would score on a single by Derrick Chung. Schimpf had a great night out of the clean up spot and was on base 3 times as he ended up going 1-2 with 2 walks. The Squirrels dominant pitching did a good job keeping the Cat bats asleep through out the game. The Cat offense was only able to collect 6 hits and 2 walks. That is just not enough base runners to put a big inning together.
Line of the game
Ryan Schimpf 1-2 with a double, a run scored, 2 walks, and an RBI

Dunedin Blue Jays vs Daytona Tortugas (loss 1-3)
Some how on a 3 error night the Tortugas only managed 3 runs. Most of this was due to good pitching as Shane Dawson was able to strike out 6 Tortugas hitters through 5.2 innings. He pitched well but threw at least one bad pitch to Joe Hudson who deposited the pitch over the fence for a 2-run home run. This would prove to bee all the offense that the Tortugas would need as they would end up winning 3-1. Chris Smith pitched well out of the bullpen and threw 2.1 innings and struck out 4 without allowing a hit. This held the Tortuga attack in check but their pitching was just to much for the D-Jay’s to gather any offense.
Matt Dean collected 2 of the 5 D-Jay hits and he collected the only RBI as he plated himself on a home run in the 5th inning. The quite bats were unable to take advantage of 4 walks and an error that were given to them through out the game. Derrick Loveless collected the only other extra base hit of the game as he popped a double in the 6th. Solid Tortuga pitching won this game and kept the D-Jay’s off the bases throughout the game.
Line of the game
Matt Dean 2-3 with a home run, a run scored, and an RBI

The story of the night was the amazing performance of Clinton Hollon. Hollon allowed the first batter he faced to reach base and then locked. He would walk 2 hitters in the first but he did not allow another hit for the remainder of his outing. He threw 7 innings of one hit ball and would sit down the last 19 batters that he faced. Colton Turner almost let things slip away in the 9th as he allowed a run. Carlos Ramirez would come on to record the 1 out save to preserve the win for Hollon’s incredible outing.
Just enough offense surfaced to give Hollon the win for the Lugnuts. Small ball antics would prove to be the difference in this game. Sacrifice flies by Dawel Lugo and Chris Carlson scored the 2 Lugnut runs. D.J. Davis set up on of those sacrifice flies by scorching a triple. Davis has now been on base in 18 straight games. Dawel Lugo also collected a triple in the 5th inning.
Line of the game
Clinton Hollon 7 innings, 1 hit, 2 walks, 0 runs, and 2 strike outs
