Left-handed pitching is one of the biggest needs for this Toronto squad this offseason, but there is an emerging southpaw in the farm system that has the tools to fill in that need in 2025. That prospect is Adam Macko, the eighth ranked prospect in the organization.

The 23-year-old left-hander showed massive positives during the 2024 season, proving himself as a potential option for 2025. Last season, Macko finished the year in Triple-A with a three inning outing, but spent most of his time in Double-A, starting 16 games.

As it sits, the Blue Jays starting rotation consists of five right handers and the bullpen only has one left hander. His impressive showing in 2024 could allow him to compete during Spring Training for a spot on the major league roster and serve as one of the lone southpaws.

Adam Macko had a solid 2024, emerging as an option for the 2025 Blue Jays

A year ago in Double-A, Macko posted an earned run average of 4.87 with an impressive FIP of 3.72 and struck out 90 batters across 81.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters batted .228 against him and he walked guys at an 8.8% clup to generate a WHIP of 1.22.

Those numbers are very encouraging, aside from the earned run average. To add on, he also had an impressive home run to fly ball ratio of 8.3%. That ability to keep fly balls inside the ball park has helped him a lot as he has not been known as a groundball pitcher.

Overall, theres a lot to like about Macko and his potential to Toronto. He brings four quality pitches that can help turn him into a solid arm for the Blue Jays. They lack left handers at the moment and after an encouraging 2024 season, the future for Macko looks very bright.
