Unique venues in Canada where MLB can showcase the Blue Jays

Outside of Rogers Centre, is there somewhere in Canada where MLB could showcase a Blue Jays game?

In 2025, Major League Baseball got creative and hosted a game at a non-traditional MLB venue. They brought 'America's past time' to a NASCAR track, Bristol Motor Speedway, for a game between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds in Bristol, Tennessee.

Having a baseball game where NASCAR takes place is a creative idea for MLB, building on the success of their international events in Asia and Europe over the last few seasons, which gives us an idea - where in Canada could MLB host a game, outside of Rogers Centre.

The Toronto Blue Jays have an advantage with being Canada's only MLB team. They could play anywhere in the country that can get fan support. Now, it's time to consider which venues can be unique locations to play a game at. The Blue Jays have hosted games outside of Rogers Centre before, playing at Montreal's Olympic Stadium. However, there are more venues in Canada that can offer a unique experience for players and fans to be part of.

Which unique venues in Canada could Blue Jays play in?

BMO Field

People in Toronto are familiar with BMO Field as it's home to the MLS' Toronto FC. Even though BMO Field is a soccer stadium, it could still offer as a unique experience for the Blue Jays and fans to be part of. With a capacity of 30,000 for TFC games, there would need to be some major reconfigurations to make the event work. Even though the stadium's capacity is way less than Rogers Centre, soccer stadiums can create a unique experience to play in as we've seen with games inside London Stadium, where West Ham United plays.

BMO Field is also located at the site of the Blue Jays first home, Exhibition Stadium and it would be a real full circle moment for the franchise.

Commonwealth Stadium

Some people might not know that Commonwealth Stadium is the largest stadium capacity in all of Canada with over 56,000 seats. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, it is home to the CFL's Edmonton Elks. Commonwealth Stadium has become a popular concert venue over the last few years, even hosting Metallica last August, who performed two shows in a three-day span of the band's M72 World Tour.

Although it is a football stadium, the Blue Jays could have a solid turnout and playing in Canada's biggest stadium can offer as a terrific chance to expand baseball throughout the country and bring baseball to one of the Prairie Provinces.

BC Place

BC Place is the biggest stadium in British Columbia. Located in Vancouver, it has a capacity of 54,500 and is home to two teams. The CFL's BC Lions and MLS' Vancouver Whipecaps FC. BC Place is also no stranger to hosting big events as the NHL's 2014 Heritage Classic between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators was played there.

A big reason why Vancouver could work for the Blue Jays to host a game in the city is the fan support in this part of Western Canada is already huge. Blue Jay fans from British Columbia make the trip south of the border when the Blue Jays take on the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington every year. Vancouver is also home to one of the Blue Jays minor league teams, the Vancouver Canadians.

Similar to the other two venues, there would need to be some reconfigurations to make a baseball game work at a stadium that is primarily used for football, but it isn't a new concept in MLB.

Canada does have other unique venues for the Blue Jays to potentially host a game outside of Rogers Centre in the future, however, these three stadiums can be the start for considerations for MLB to bring the game to other parts of the country.
