Three more teams have officially entered the Bo Bichette sweepstakes according to New York Post insider Jon Heyman, further intensifying what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive free-agent markets of the offseason. The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs have all checked in on Bichette, adding three high-profile contenders to the mix.

The Yankees and Dodgers, in particular, are no strangers to high-end free agents, while the Cubs have been aggressive in recent offseason's as they look to re-establish themselves as perennial contenders in the National League. It's also worth noting that the Yankees have yet to make any sort of significant splash this winter.
Earlier this offseason, it was reported that Bichette has informed teams he is willing to shift one position to his left and play second base, a move he made seamlessly throughout all seven games of the World Series. His ability to display positional flexibility, especially at the biggest stage, only enhances the 27-year-old's value on the open market. While he has spent the majority of his career at shortstop, the ability to slide to second base allows contending teams with established shortstops to still pursue his elite offensive production without major roster reshuffling.
Yankees, Dodgers, and Cubs join growing list of suitors for Bo Bichette
In terms of current 'needs' for both the Yankees and the Dodgers, he slots in just fine. In Los Angeles, Hyeseong Kim is currently projected to play second base, while José Caballero is projected at second for the Yankees. In Chicago, the fit is less clear, as Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson take up second and third, but Bichette would be an upgrade for those three potential destinations.
Now a free agent for the first time, Bichette has spent his entire MLB career in Toronto, developing into one of the league’s most consistent hitters. The 27-year-old hit .311 last season, finishing second in the majors with 44 doubles and tying for second with 181 hits, despite missing the final 20 games of the regular season due to a PCL sprain in his left knee. Bichette has led the American League in 2021 and 2022 in hits, and was leading the MLB in that category at various points during the 2025 season, clearly cementing himself as one of the best hitters in the league.
Bichette was sidelined for the final month of the season, as well as the ALDS and ALCS, but he returned in time for the World Series and quickly reminded the league why he is so coveted. In seven games on baseball’s biggest stage, Bichette hit .348 with six RBIs along with one of the biggest home runs in Blue Jays history, coming in Game 7 against Shohei Ohtani to make it 3-0 in the bottom of the third.
Through seven MLB seasons, Bichette owns a career slash line of .294/.337/.469 with 111 home runs and 437 RBIs, production that has established him as one of the premier offensive infielders in the game. At just 27 years old, with the postseason success and versatility to impact contending rosters in multiple ways, Bichette is exactly the type of player championship-caliber organizations target.
With the Yankees, Dodgers, and Cubs, all playoff contenders now showing interest, the competition for the Blue Jays’ free agent is only intensifying, highlighting just how coveted Bichette has become on the open market.
