Throughout the first two and a half months of the season, the Toronto Blue Jays have been getting production from players up and down the roster. Everyone has seemingly chipped in at some point to push Toronto over the .500 mark, and back into serious playoff contention. Individually, some of the players have produced impressive lengthy streaks, including Yariel Rodriguez.

Rodriguez recently went on a stretch of throwing 16.2 consecutive scoreless innings. After a slow start to the season, things weren't looking great for Rodriguez who was expected to fill an important role as a swing man. That role was an even bigger need when Max Scherzer was hurt in his first start, but Rodriguez couldn't step in and be trusted with bulk innings after his first few outings did not go well, giving up five earned runs in his first 4 2/3 innings. Fortunately for him and the Blue Jays, they managed to find him a role in the bullpen that got him into a groove, which settled down a shaky bullpen. They also lost Yimi Garcia to the injured list, giving Rodriguez' resurgence even more meaning.

Yariel Rodriguez' scoreless streak has been the most impressive on the Blue Jays this season.

Going on that stretch of allowing no runs brought the 28-year-old reliever's season ERA to a solid 3.06 across 32.1 IP. He adds a FIP of 4.37 with an 8.63 K/9 and 0.96 WHIP. Thanks to that impressive streak, Rodriguez is now a go-to guy in the bullpen, helping Toronto win a handful of games. That isn't the only streak that a Blue Jay has put together this season, but it is the best for a major reason.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had an incredible 33 game on-base streak that has dramatically changed his game. He is walking at a career high rate at 13.4% rate, which has helped him in the wake of his power numbers taking a dip. That reliability to get on at some point in a game is very valuable, but not as valuable as a long scoreless streak in a high leverage role.

Bo Bichette had a stretch of nine straight plate appearances where he got on base in the first week of the season. Mixed with six hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch, Bichette was one of the hottest hitters to open the season. Impressive for sure, but short lived in comparison to what Rodriguez did.

The last impressive streak came from Andres Gimenez who just ended a 33 straight at bat streak without striking out. Consistently putting the ball in play is a really good trait to have as a hitter, but Gimenez really has struggled this year. During this streak though, Gimenez did hit well, and it has played a factor in Toronto's recent success but still isn't game changing like Rodriguez.

Rodriguez streak started on May 7 and ended on June 9 when he gave up two runs to the St. Louis Cardinals in a 5-4 Blue Jays win in 10 innings. During the 16.2 IP, Rodriguez gave up just five hits, struck out 17 hitters and allowed only three walks. This is exactly the type of dominance the Blue Jays need from Rodriguez who is now a prime option in high leverage roles.
