Making the 2020 Postseason helped the Toronto Blue Jays become a free agent destination for players with a young Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette on the roster. During that off-season, the Blue Jays signed former Houston Astros superstar George Springer to a six-year contract.

During his time in Houston, Springer became an Astro legend in just seven seasons. He made the All-Star Game three times, won two Silver Sluggers, helped the Astros win two AL Pennants and won the 2017 World Series MVP. In 2019, Springer set two career highs with 39 home runs and 96 RBI's.

After he signed with the Blue Jays, the first four years of Springer's tenure in Toronto saw up-and-downs, as he made just one All-Star appearance in 2022. However, 2025's season was the one the Blue Jays have been waiting for from Springer since he first joined the team.

Springer is having best season in Toronto, one of the best in his career

This season, Springer is batting .304 (Entering Saturday's game). If Springer finishes batting .300 or better to close out 2025, it would be the first time in his career that he would finish with a batting average over .300.

Along with his average, Springer's power has taken a big step forward with 27 home runs to date, the most in a single season during his Blue Jays tenure. Springer is also on pace to break his single season total for RBI's as a Blue Jay with 72 knocked in, just behind his 76 RBIs in 2022.

One thing Springer has done better in Toronto than he did in Houston is steal bases. He has stolen at least 14 bases in each of the past four seasons, while never surpassing 10 in any year with the Astros. The most as a Blue Jay was 20 in 2023, and he is four off that mark.

Springer's slugging percentage, on base percentage and ops in 2025 are already his best marks as a Blue Jay and he's solidified himself in Toronto's record books by breaking the record for most lead-off home runs in Blue Jays history. At 35 years old, 2025 is one of the best seasons in Springer's career.

Springer may not win the 2025 AL MVP with Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh leading the charge in that conversation, however, with the season he's having, Springer does deserve to have some MVP votes.
