Since joining the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021, George Springer has been one of the team's best players. In his five seasons with the Blue Jays, he's hit over 20 home runs in four of them, including this season, in which he currently leads the team with 22. He's also been in the top four in hits and RBIs every season except 2021, when the Blue Jays had a prolific offense led by the likes of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Marcus Semien, and Teoscar Hernandez.

Despite his success, Springer is on pace for his best offensive season with the Blue Jays in 2025. He's batting .292 with 110 hits, 64 RBIs, and 22 home runs. His previous best offensive season in Toronto was in 2022, when he hit .267 with 137 hits, 76 RBIs, and 25 home runs. With over a month left in the regular season and the Blue Jays sitting in a playoff spot, Springer has plenty of time to pass those numbers. After recovering from a concussion, Springer returned to the Blue Jays lineup in the leadoff spot, a position he'd held through most of his career.

Where does George Springer rank among the Blue Jays best outfielders in franchise history?

Springer is undoubtedly one of the best current Blue Jays, but what about all-time? Toronto has had many great outfielders throughout franchise history. There are legends like Joe Carter and Jose Baustista who, on top of being very strong overall players, have etched their names in Blue Jays history by creating the franchise's most iconic moments.

Carter's walk-off home run to win the 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies is the greatest moment in Blue Jays history. Bautista's bat flip following a three-run homer in a wild seventh inning during game five of the 2015 ALDS against the Texas Rangers is the second. These were great players delivering unforgettable moments.

Toronto has had other great outfielders, such as George Bell, who was the first Blue Jay to be awarded the American League's MVP, which he won in 1987. His teammate, Jesse Barfield, is another great Jays outfielder, having won two Gold Gloves with the team. Speaking of Gold Gloves, Devon White racked up five during his time in Toronto. Other great outfielders to play for the Blue Jays include Lloyd Moseby, who still has the most stolen bases in franchise history (255), and three-time Gold Glove winner Vernon Wells. More recently, Blue Jays fans remember Kevin Pillar for his Superman-like catches.

While Springer has had a strong season, he hasn't quite cemented himself as one of Toronto's all-time greats. That could change, however, with the Blue Jays marching toward a postseason berth, a strong playoff performance can catapult a good player into legendary status, as seen with Carter. Springer has already played a major role in the Blue Jays' most successful season in almost a decade. If he can continue his current form and translate it into a meaningful postseason contribution, he could secure his place as an all-time Toronto Blue Jays great.
