When the Toronto Blue Jays decided to draft a promising young shortstop out of high school in the first round during the 2025 MLB Draft, they were betting on the enormous potential that he came with. Now in his first month of professional baseball, Blue Jays top prospect JoJo Parker already looks to be on the fast track to move up to the next level.
Parker began his baseball career in the Blue Jays organization this season with their Single-A affiliate Dunedin and he has already shown why he was selected eighth overall less than a year ago. After going hitless in his first two games, the 19-year-old has since put together a six-game hitting streak in which he has gone 8-for-21 with six runs scored and seven RBIs.
On top of that, Parker has shown solid plate discipline with seven walks to go along with seven strikeouts in 36 total plate appearances. Not to mention putting some of his speed on full display as well, going three-for-three in stolen bases.

Parker’s strong start proving why he was a top ten draft pick
On the season, Parker has compiled a solid .286/.444/.429/.873 slash line over eight games played. With the way that he has impressed so far with his play, it will only be a matter of time before he will get the promotion to the next level and play with the Blue Jays’ High-A affiliate Vancouver Canadians.
But given the expectations of the Blue Jays No. 2 prospect in the system according to MLB Pipeline, perhaps this performance might not come as too much of a surprise. After all, scouting grades have Parker all over 50 in his tools with his bat and hitting being his main bread and butter. He already has a strong left-handed swing, but further growth and development could turn that into plus power when he fully matures into his muscular frame.
If Parker does end up fast-tracking up a level and throughout his path to the big leagues, the Blue Jays could very well be getting their eventual homegrown Bo Bichette replacement even sooner than one would think. Those that may have been expecting Arjun Nimmala to fill those shoes, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see Parker actually surpass Nimmala on the depth chart in due time if he keeps producing beyond expectations. Nevertheless, the future of the Blue Jays at the shortstop position sure looks bright in one way or another.
