The Blue Jays are MLB's hottest team and it likely won't change soon

Alright. The Toronto Blue Jays are on a heater. They're finally playing like a team that remembers it has a payroll north of $200 million and a fanbase starving for October relevance. For the first time all season, have reasons to really believe in this team. But let’s not get carried away like it’s 1993. These Blue Jays have come up short in the past, and fans have been hurt before. Let’s break it down.

Two Reasons to Believe This Streak is Real

1. Bo Bichette looks awake again

Bo's been sleepwalking through the first half like he forgot he was in a contract year. But suddenly, he’s hitting line drives again, staying back on breaking stuff, and turning two-strike counts into rallies. You get a locked-in Bo Bichette? That’s a game-changer. He’s the guy who makes this offense go. And guess what? He’s not even truly hot yet, he’s just getting back to his baseline.

2. The rotation is settling in

Kevin Gausman is steady. Berríos is finally more than a “well, maybe today’s his day” pitcher. And Chris Bassitt, for all the chaos, is giving you innings. Don’t sleep on this: consistency in the rotation is the glue of a winning streak. The core of the staff is getting it done for at least 3 out of 5. It sets the tone, calms the bullpen, and it lets the offense breathe. And right now? It’s working.

Two Reasons The Team Could Stumble Again

1. The rotation is as top heavy as the lineup and the team gives out HRs like candy

Let’s not lie to ourselves. Gausman is rock solid but has had a couple shaky starts, and we've seen first hand what happens when that bullpen is locked and loaded after we get through the big three of the starting rotation. The bullpen actually appears to have the potential to be ELITE, however, we haven't really seen them operating on full tanks in a month or more. It's time to make a move to secure that rotation, with or without Max Scherzer. One last point, they rank 29th in the league in home runs allowed. Hard to hold leads when the long ball is that big a risk for you.

2. They are not a threat to run

When you look at some of the most succesful teams in baseball, they have multiple threats to run sprinkled throughout the roster. The Blue Jays, arguably, have some of these guys, but they simply don't steal bases. Currently, they sit at 23rd in the league in stolen bases when the Yankees (the team they're chasing and that few think of as "speedy) is still at least 17th. The reality is that they need to get more runners into scoring position without it always needing to be off the bat, especially considering their struggles cashing in.

The Verdict?

There is still a lot of baseball to play, and the Blue Jays finally look like they believe in themselves again. And that matters. Baseball’s mental. If Bo heats up, if the starters hold, and if the offense keeps stacking confidence, then this streak could be the first page in a legit playoff push.

But hey, let’s just hold our excitement for when this team can actually win a series against Tampa Bay. Sound good?
