Since the Toronto Blue Jays have been fairly quiet this offseason, they have been tied to a lot of predictions. Bleacher Report has matched Toronto with a ton of fits, but one of the website's most recent trade proposals will completely frustrate Blue Jays' fans.

What do you think about sending Davis Schneider to the New York Yankees in exchange for pitcher Marcus Stroman and first baseman Ben Rice. The Yankees are actively trying to shed Stroman's salary off of their payroll, but haven't found any suitors yet. Stroman isn't exactly is old self and has been steadily trending in the wrong direction.

Bleacher Report's wild Blue Jays-Yankees trade for Marcus Stroman doesn't make sense

Schneider didn't have a great year in 2024, but still has a lot of upside and could turn into a solid piece for Toronto down the road. Giving him up for package that includes Stroman (and his massive salary) is not worth it.

Stroman is owed $18.5 million in 2025 with a vesting option for 2026. His average fastball velocity was a career-low at 90.6 mph, and his 1.47 his WHIP was not great, while opponents batted .275 against him.

Rice took over at first base for Anthony Rizzo in 2024. He has a lot of power at the plate, belting 24 homers in Triple-A and seven in the majors last season. But Rice is behind Schneider in terms of development and it doesn't make sense to swap him for a player who is on the brink of the major leagues, but is not exactly ready. Schneider has more value and upside than both Stroman and Rice.

Bleacher Report has come up with some wild ideas, but this one takes the cake. The Blue Jays desperately need to attack the market, but should avoid making mistakes like acquiring Stroman, and in turn, helping out their AL East rival.
