Toronto Blue Jays probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Tampa Bay Rays, September 20
For the final time this year, the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays prepare for a three-game series against each other. The two bottom teams in the American League East are still only separated by two games in the division standings, so a sweep by the Jays would see them successfully climb out of the bottom spot in the division before the year comes to a close.
Probable starting pitchers
- The Blue Jays are set to send Jose Berrios to the mound to make his 31st start of the year. The right-hander has been great for the Jays, especially in the second half. Since the All-Star break, Berrios is 8-2 with a 2.38 ERA in 10 starts and 64.1 innings. He's been one of baseball's most efficient starters since then and has continued to be the picture of consistency and durability throughout his tenure in Toronto. Should he make his next start as well, this will be the sixth time in nine years Berrios has made all 32 of his scheduled starts in a season.
- Opposite Berrios will be Rays swingman Tyler Alexander, who's set to make his 22nd appearance and eighth start of the year. The left-hander has flashed potential both throughout his big league career and at times this season, but has yet to put together an extended stretch of strong performances. Two starts ago, he went 4.1 innings against the Phillies while allowing just one run that came on a solo home run. All told, the six-year veteran is 6-5 with a 5.58 ERA and 5.42 FIP this season.
