In a recent interview for TD, Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho revealed his pre-game playlist. And by the looks of it, he seems to be a pretty big fan of Morgan Wallen.
To those following along at home, here's a link that takes you directly to Varsho's playlist on Spotify.
Varsho only has nine songs in his playlist, and all nine songs are by Morgan Wallen, or include a Morgan Wallen feature. The playlist possesses five songs from the Tennessee born artist's highly succesful album from earlier this year, "One Thing At A Time", including the smash hit "Last Night".
Varsho, 27, was acquired by Toronto in a deal this past off-season that saw the team's No. 1 prospect Gabriel Moreno and outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. being sent the other way as part of the trade.
Initial reactions to the trade might not have been as positive as they may be now, but that's expected when a team trades away a fan favourite, which Gurriel absolutely was with the Blue Jays fanbase. While it's never easy to come to a new team and replace a fan favourite, Daulton Varsho has done a pretty good job at becoming a fan favourite himself this year.
While he started off slow offensively this season, his defensive abilities have never wavered, and his bat has started to come around as of late, too, after a very successful series in Boston which saw him go 4-for-8 with a home run and three RBI, helping Toronto sweep the Red Sox in a very important series. And his defence, as mentioned, has never been a question mark. He currently leads all of Major League Baseball in Defensive Runs Saved, with 19, while also being in the 80th percentile for outfielder jump and 89th percentile for Outs Above Average.
Maybe all that pre-game Morgan Wallen is paying off for Daulton Varsho, or maybe he needs to work on adding a bit of variety to his routine, because one can only listen to so much Morgan Wallen.
