Blue Jays 2024 MLB Draft guide: How to watch, schedule, order
For some, the annual MLB Draft is one of the most exciting times of the year. While most players (Paul Skenes is clearly the outlier) selected will be multiple years away from being big league contributors, getting to know your teams' next wave of young stars can be a ton of fun.
Followers of the Toronto Blue Jays haven't had much luck in the way of homegrown players developing over the years, though, especially first-rounders. Alek Manoah (2019) and Nate Pearson (2017) are the only two players that have turned into anything at this point, and neither are especially notable this year.
In 2022, the Blue Jays drafted LHP Brandon Barriera in the first round, and he has largely been a flop. From questions about his conditioning to injuries, he has fallen flat (so far) and doesn't seem to be progressing the way the Jays would've liked him to.
Last year's pick, Arjun Nimmala, has a ton of hype surrounding him, but his tenure has been so-so as of this point. He's got some work to do on defense but his offensive prowess should (hopefully) begin to shine through in the near future.
