One underrated Blue Jays' prospect is knocking hard on the door for his MLB debut

It is clear that things are not going well for the Toronto Blue Jays right now. After losing five out of their last six games, the Blue Jays are now at the bottom of the American League East standings with a 46-54 record. This is certainly not what was expected of them heading into the season.

While it has been a tough year for the Blue Jays so far in 2026, they at least have some prospects who are showing a lot of promise in the minor leagues. Among them is Jay Harry, as the 24-year-old has been simply excellent so far this season.

Harry started the season with Double-A New Hampshire, and he undoubtedly had success. In 48 games with the Double-A club, he recorded eight home runs, 39 RBI, and a .324 batting average. Since then, he was rightfully been called up to Triple-A Buffalo and is only continuing to shine. In 27 games in Triple-A so far this campaign, he has five home runs, 24 RBI, and a .304 batting average.

When noting that Harry had just five home runs and a .199 batting average split between High-A Vancouver and Double-A New Hampshire last season, it is apparent that he has taken a massive step forward this campaign. As a result, he is now being viewed as a call-up candidate for the Blue Jays.

In a recent article for The Athletic, Mitch Bannon mentioned that Harry is making a real case for himself to get called up to Toronto's roster because of his strong play.

"Blue Jays designated hitter Sean Keys had a front-row seat for Jay Harry’s breakout season," Bannon wrote. "The off-day golf partners blasted homers in New Hampshire together and earned promotions to Triple-A Buffalo in the same week. Keys got his MLB call-up in late June, and Harry may not be far behind."

With how well Harry is continuing to perform this season, it would make sense for Toronto to give him an opportunity in the majors.

Blue Jays' struggles could open the door for Harry call-up

If the Blue Jays continue to underperform as the season rolls on, it very well could open the door for Harry to get called up. It would not hurt for them to take a chance on a promising player like Harry. This is especially so if Toronto finds themselves out of the playoff race as the season carries on.

Whether Harry gets called up this season or not, it is clear that he is only getting better. The potential for him to emerge as a solid player for the Blue Jays in the future is undoubtedly there.
