Infield prospect’s success doesn’t translate in the rankings among Blue Jays Top 30

Overlooked infielder has had a strong start to spring.

Charles McAdoo has been one of the more exciting prospects in the early days of Spring Training for the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite his strong play, McAdoo has tumbled down the team’s most recent Top 30 prospects list, published Monday morning (Mar. 2).

The 23-year-old dropped from 15th on the list at the previous rankings to 26th after spending the entire 2025 season with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher-Cats. McAdoo played 121 games, and hit .247, with 24 doubles, 16 home runs, 45 RBI, and a .732 OPS with 34 stolen bases in 40 attempts, good for an 85% success rate.

McAdoo is having a strong start to spring, but dropped in the newest prospect rankings

The former San Jose State star profiles as a defensively versatile super-utilityman with a power-speed combo that could yield 20-20 production. He’s played first base, second base, third base, and some outfield in his professional career with the bulk of his time coming at third base.

The 13th-round draft pick is realizing a potential that previously peaked in 2024 with a strong season in the High-A and Double-A levels of the Pittsburgh Pirates system. He hit .336 with 28 extra-base hits in 60 games for Greensboro before being promoted to Altoona, where he produced an .838 OPS over 27 games.

McAdoo was acquired for Isiah Kiner-Falefa and cash considerations ahead of the 2024 trade deadline but didn’t enjoy the same level of success immediately. He finished off the ’24 campaign by playing 37 games with the Fisher-Cats, accumulating a .609 OPS with three homers and 15 RBI.

McAdoo appeared to be refreshed in 2025 and closer to the prospect the Blue Jays thought they were trading for in July 2024. He’s taken that momentum forward and has been one of the flashier prospects for the Blue Jays in Dunedin.

He’s gotten into eight games (through Monday) and has hit .375 (6-16) with two doubles, four RBI, a stolen base, and a pair of walks while playing a smooth third base. McAdoo can take solace in another former prospect who never seemed to rise much in the top 30 lists but has stayed in the picture (with a couple of demotions) ever since, Davis Schneider. Schneider has found a role at the big league level, and was even a part of some big moments in the Blue Jays World Series run.

McAdoo is likely to start the 2026 season with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, just one level away from the show. He may not be the most popular or well-known player in the Blue Jays system, but the California native is putting himself in a position for a big-league promotion as early as this season.
