George Springer's resurgence in 2025 has earned some recognition. The Blue Jays outfielder and designated hitter has landed in the top 50 of MLB Network's "Top 100 Players Right Now."
The list is being unveiled in installments, with players number 100 through 21 already announced. The last episode is coming Wednesday night and will reveal the top 20 players, according to MLB Network analysts.
Springer ranked 47 on MLB Network's "Top 100 Players Right Now" list
So far, a few Blue Jays have landed on MLB's list. New pitcher Dylan Cease came in at number 100, while catcher Alejandro Kirk was ranked number 74. Springer is ranked number 47, ironically one spot ahead of former Blue Jay Bo Bichette.
Springer rebounded from a rough 2024 season to post a .959 OPS and hit 32 home runs, to go with a .399 on-base percentage, 27 doubles in 140 games. He also scored 106 runs, the most Springer has scored in a season since his All-Star season in 2018 with Houston. He also had some big moments during the season, including a grand slam against the New York Yankees in a pivotal Canada Day win. The Blue Jays swept that four-game series and never let go of first place in the AL East.
Hampered by injuries throughout 2024, Springer hit just .220/.303/.371. Coming into spring training, things didn't look promising at first for Springer, according to Toronto hitting coach David Popkins. That was until they realized Springer was putting his foot down early when swinging, Popkins told Gate 14 Podcast. Some work in the cage led to a couple of changes made to Springer's swing, and he homered in the next spring game.
"And he kind of took off," Popkins said.

Those numbers were good enough for Springer to nab a Silver Slugger Award for DH and a seventh-place finish in American League MVP voting. Springer also won team awards as Blue Jay player of the year and most improved player. Of course, that was after Springer reclaimed his reputation for coming up big in the postseason.
Dealing with a couple of injuries, Springer still managed to hit .284/.347/.552 in 16 games with an .899 OPS. Springer drove in 10 runs, hit six doubles and four home runs
during the postseason, including a massive, three-run home run that launched the Blue Jays to a
Game 7 win in the American League Championship Series.

In 83 career playoff games, Springer has hit .271/.346/.534 with an .880 OPS. He is tied for third all-time with 23 career postseason home runs, including the five he hit during the 2017 World Series with Houston. Springer was named MVP of that series as a result.
Springer, who is entering his age-36 season, is in the final year of a six-year, $150 million contract with the Blue Jays.
