When it comes to former Toronto Blue Jays fan favorite outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, he has had his fair share of elite defensive plays made in the field during his time as an active player. Well, the former Blue Jay will now get the unique opportunity to share his expertise off the field and inside a broadcast booth.
The former Blue Jays Gold Glove-winning center fielder has now joined MLB Network ahead of the 2026 season as an on-air analyst. Kiermaier will make his debut in his new position on MLB Tonight following the season opener between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants on Wednesday March 25. He had actually been previously serving as a guest analyst in a trial run for the network since February. So he will now be officially taking on the new role once the regular season begins.

Despite spending only two seasons with the Blue Jays as a player, fans will always remember Kiermaier for giving it his all to help the ballclub. In 211 total games played, Kiermaier posted a .240 average, .673 OPS, along with 82 runs scored, 28 doubles, 12 home runs, 54 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.
Defensively, Kiermaier compiled 27 Defensive Runs Saved, along with a greater than .985 fielding percentage in over 1500 innings played with the Blue Jays. More significantly, it was his dazzling play in the outfield, together with his personable charisma that captured the heart and adornment of Blue Jays fans everywhere, despite playing for the division rival Tampa Bay Rays for over a decade.
Following his trade to the Dodgers at the 2024 MLB trade deadline, Kiermaier concluded his illustrious professional baseball career by going out in style, capturing his first and only World Series championship title with Los Angeles. He would subsequently officially retire as a player, ending a memorable 12-year run in the major leagues.
But Kiermaier wasn’t done with baseball, in fact, not by a long shot. He returned to the Blue Jays organization to serve as a special assistant last year, overseeing and working with the development of players in the outfield. He continued with some of that mentoring with the Tampa Bay Rays this offseason, working with their young players at their spring training complex in Port Charlotte.
Kiermaier will now continue to make his mark in the game that he loves, this time on screen, as he shares his thoughts, wits and expertise with this generation of baseball fans.
