All signs are pointing to the Toronto Blue Jays being sellers at the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline. Because of this, many of the players on their roster have been creating chatter as trade candidates to watch.
Among the Blue Jays' top trade candidates with the deadline almost here are Shane Bieber, Kevin Gausman, George Springer, Max Scherzer, and Jeff Hoffman. With this, it could end up being a very busy week for the Blue Jays.
However, one specific Blue Jays' player is now being viewed as the Blue Jays' most realistic trade chip with the deadline almost here: outfielder Daulton Varsho.
In a recent article for FanSided, Zachary Rotman named Varsho as the Blue Jays player most likely to be moved by the trade deadline.
"The last thing they want to do coming off a World Series berth is sell at the deadline, but that outcome feels inevitable, making a guy like Daulton Varsho, who is on an expiring contract, an easy trade candidate," Rotman wrote.
With Varsho currenlty in the final season of his contract and the Blue Jays struggling, it is understandable that Rotman expects him to be traded. He would have the potential to be a strong addition for a contender looking to improve its outfield.

Varsho has appeared in 93 games this season with Toronto, where he has seven home runs, 25 RBI, and a .248 batting average. Yet, when noting that he hit at least 20 home runs in three out of his previous four seasons, he could generate interest from teams looking for more power in their lineup as well.
Varsho also has the potential to get the Blue Jays a nice return in a trade because of his all-around strong play. While some fans could end up being sad seeing him go, the Blue Jays may have no choice but to trade him since he is a pending free agent.
Which teams could look to acquire Blue Jays' Varsho?
When noting that Varsho is an impactful outfielder with playoff experience, he has the potential to generate a lot of interest leading up to the deadline.
A few teams that could make sense as landing spots for Varsho include the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, and Pittsburgh Pirates. Yet, it would not be surprising if the Blue Jays get calls from a lot of teams about Varsho leading up to the deadline.
It will now be interesting to see what happens with Varsho. With the 30-year-old being able to hit the free agent market next month, it seems likely that his time in Toronto is coming to an end.
