Ahead of the 2022 season, the Oakland Athletics traded Bassitt to the New York Mets where he had one of the best season of his career. He had an ERA of 3.42 in 181 2/3 innings with 167 strikeouts, which helped him ink a three-year deal with the Blue Jays.
