It was a frustrating three game series for the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre this week, as they fell 2-1 to the Toronto Blue Jays in the three game series. The Yankees were seemingly doing everything they could to give the Blue Jays the win, especially in the finale on Wednesday, when they committed four errors, practically handing the Blue Jays an 8-4 win, and sliding four games back of the lead in the AL East.

Over the course of the series the Yankees made seven errors and it didn't go unnoticed by folks on social media, including the Blue Jays on X (formerly Twitter).

The Blue Jays official profile put seven E's in Yankees, just to drive the point home. The errors and misplays started in the bottom of the fifth. With two Blue Jays on base, pitcher Max Fried threw a wild pitch, allowing Davis Schneider and George Springer to advance to second and third.

A couple of pitchers later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a little roller roller up the third base line, and when Fried got the ball he threw it past catcher J.C. Escarra to allow Schneider to score. Fried then failed to cover home plate as Escarra chased the ball, allowing Springer to score from second, giving the Blue Jays a 4-2 lead. That's two runs on a ball that went about 50 feet.

The Yankees just unraveled from there with a throwing error by Jazz Chisholm Jr., Cody Bellinger lost a fly ball in the lights, Ben Rice bobbled a ball at first base, and Jasson Dominguez couldn't squeeze a ball on the hop in the gap.

It also probably didn't help that Blue Jays Gold Glove winning first baseman Guerrero was snagging nasty hops right in front of the Yankees dugout.

And the Blue Jays official page also highlighted a play from Ernie Clement that would have made Derek Jeter proud.

Manager Aaron Boone was asked about the field work - or lack their of - after the game and basically said his team has no issues defensively, it's just got something to do with playing "up here" as they have made 12 errors in 10 games against the Blue Jays this season, with nine of them happening at Rogers Centre.

It's a fine line between not throwing your team under the bus and being completely delusional to the issues that are hurting your team. The Blue Jays have gone 6-1 in their last seven games Toronto against the Yankees, a team who once held a seven game lead over them in the division. These two teams meet just once more this season, a three game set at the beginning of September at Yankee Stadium.
