The Toronto Blue Jays planned on letting Will Wagner leave the team to go attend his father, Billy Wagner, get inducted into the Hall of Fame. His father is one of the greatest left handed relievers of all time and now he is getting the recognition he deserves in Cooperstown. Losing Wagner definitely is not what this team wanted with how well he has been performing recently, but it is great that he gets the opportunity to attend this.

Blue Jays promote Alan Roden to the big leagues, allowing Will Wagner to attend father Billy Wagner's induction to Hall of Fame.

In the meantime, Toronto will bring back former top prospect Alan Roden to serve just a couple of days as his replacement. Roden has been doing well in Triple-A since his previous demotion and is hoping to catch fire to stay up following the MLB Trade Deadline. He is blocked off by players like Joey Loperfido and with him as a possible piece for a bigger trade piece for the big league roster, Roden could find his way back up. It will be more difficult when Daulton Varsho gets healthy and if Anthony Santander also ever returns.

Nonetheless, this opportunity is great for Roden. Earlier when he was in the big leagues, he posted a 63 wRC+ with a .589 OPS and a 21.6% strikeout rate. He could not catch a groove at the plate, yet his defense was positive enough to give him an fWAR of 0.2. Typically with those offensive numbers, that would make him a negative WAR player and his glove saves him, marking as a very valuable asset to this team.

Roden could play a little bit, but problably won't with how well this lineup has been doing all around. The Blue Jays are trying to show off Loperfido as much as they can and he is doing phenomenal.

Roden was deserving of a promotion too. His numbers in Triple-A have been remarkable, posting a 150 wRC+ with a .918 OPS and a higher walk rate of 11.3% than his strikeout rate of 9.2%.

Hopefully if he does get his chance he can use his tools from Buffalo to help this team win. Toronto must stay hot and pick up as much ground as they can from the Yankees.
