Wednesday's intrasquad scrimmage at the Rogers Centre was as loud as it gets. The couple thousand fans in the lower deck weren't causing the commotion, though; it was the loudspeakers pumping fan noise on the loudest setting possible. Nevertheless, the Jays pulled off a classy move by donating all proceeds to the Jays Care Foundation, and they will do it all over again on Thursday.

Although the game meant next to nothing, there were some notable moments, including some encouraging at-bats from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. In the top of the second 'inning', Vlad pummeled a ball to the left centre gap off of Brendan Little, a ball that looked like it may have reached 120 mph. An inning later, he did the same, this time to the left centre gap off of Mason Fluarty. Although his at-bats were meaningless, they were still encouraging, especially due to his struggles as of late.

Some more encouraging swings came from Anthony Santander and Davis Schneider. In the fourth, Santander smoked a hard RBI double down the left field line off Easton Lucas, followed by a Schneider bomb that grazed the second deck a few at-bats later. Again, simulated games like this don't always tell much of a story, but if there's anything to take away, it's that a few of the notable bats looked great, especially when matched up against Lucas, who got shelled for four earned runs.

On the pitching front, Tommy Nance impressed the most. Specifically, his curveball did most of the heavy lifting for him. Nance made quick work in the bottom of the second, as he struck out Varsho looking at the curveball, followed by a chase in the dirt from Loperfido.

Overall, it was a strange day at the ballpark. The fake fan noise was as loud as it gets, and we saw at-bats like Brayden Fisher versus Jay Harry, a sixth-round pick from 2023 who hasn't seen a level higher than Double-A, or a Dasan Brown appearance, who played CF for one team and LF for the other.

Fans also witnessed a pre-game trade, with Vladdy and George Springer getting shipped off to the other dugout. The simulated game was about as out of the ordinary as it gets, but the couple thousand in attendance still had a good time, especially considering the tickets were $10.

For what it's worth, the simulated game finished 4-2 for team white... if that means anything. After all, Gosuke Katoah, who hasn't touched an MLB field in three years, was in the starting lineup for Team Blue (although he was a designated fielder). Again, today was never about the fans witnessing high-flying action; it came down to money going towards a good cause while keeping fans involved.
