Amidst all of the excitement that the Toronto Blue Jays have generated during the past few weeks, it is sometimes quite hard to believe how well they have done considering the significant number of key players currently on the mend. Some of those players seem to be on the right rack in their road to recovery according to MLB.com.
Blue Jays Injury Updates: Scherzer finally on track, Varsho begins activities, Santander to wait and see
OF Nathan Lukes

Currently on the 7-day IL due to a concussion, Jays outfielder Nathan Lukes was suffered the injury in a game against the Minnesota Twins on June 8. Reports suggests it happened during a play in which he had collided with third baseman Ernie Clement. At first, Lukes was experiencing some neck discomfort, but it was later diagnosed as a concussion. On the bright side, he isn’t expected to miss more than the seven-day minimum and should be back soon.
OF Daulton Varsho

Varsho has been sidelined since June 1 due to a left hamstring strain that he suffered on May 31 on a running play against the Athletics. The defensive wizard Varsho has resumed baseball activities once again this week but his return date is unfortunately still indefinite. Nevertheless, the Blue Jays are hoping that Varsho will be back sooner rather than later as the 28-year-old outfielder was shining both in the field and surprisingly at the plate prior to his ill-timed ailment.
OF Anthony Santander

Already enduring a forgettable start to his 2025 campaign with his new club, things managed to get even worse for Anthony Santander as he ended up landing on the 10-day IL back on May 30 as a result of left shoulder inflammation. That may have been part of the reason why Santander had been struggling to produce and hit for power so far this season, with only six home runs, 18 RBIs and a measly .179 average to show for to date. The 30-year-old star outfielder has received a platelet-rich plasma injection on his shoulder and will hope to resume throwing pretty soon, with an eventual return date towards the end of the month.
P Yimi García

As one of the key veteran arms out of the bullpen for the Jays this season, Yimi García fell victim to a right shoulder impingement towards the end of May and has been out ever since. As treatment for his shoulder, García received a cortisone shot and just began catching on flat ground last week. However, his expected return date has yet to be determined.
P Nick Sandlin

As one of the surprise performers among the Jays relief corps this year, Nick Sandlin was cruising with a tidy 2.25 ERA in his first ten appearances with his new club before suffering a right lat strain that came out of nowhere. Out since the latter parts of April, Sandlin began his rehab assignment and pitched in a Florida Complex League game just last Friday and will progress up to Single-A or Triple-A this week for his next outing. He is on track to return to the big league club in the coming week or two.
