The Blue Jays lineup took a big hit at the beginning of the weekend when the team placed slumping outfielder Anthony Santander on the injured list due to left shoulder inflammation.
It might have taken an ever bigger hit on Saturday.
On Saturday, outfielder Daulton Varsho left the Blue Jays game against the Athletics with a left hamstring injury.
The incident occurred during the bottom of the third inning when Varsho attempted to stretch a double into a triple. After rounding second base, he started to grab his left hamstring while gingerly hopping to third, where he was eventually tagged out by the Athletics third baseman Max Schuemann. Schuemann helped Varsho to the ground as Jays trainers came out.
Varsho was replaced by Myles Straw in the outfield in the next half inning.

Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho leaves game with concerning leg injury
The seriousness of the injury will be determined once the team gets his MRI results, but it didn't look good. Varsho already missed the first month of the season due to the recovery process from his offseason shoulder surgery.
While Varsho's only played in 24 games this year, he's been an integral component of the Jays’ offense when he's been on the field.
Although he entered play on Saturday sporting a sub-.200 average, he's made his hits count. Varsho's scored 14 runs this year to go along with five doubles, one triple, eight home runs and a whopping 20 RBI.
To say losing him would be a blow to Toronto's lineup would be an understatement.
The Blue Jays have pushed their way back into the postseason hunt thanks to some strong play across the last week, but it's hard to imagine their offense being able to keep things up without Varsho.
The Blue Jays already called up rookie Alan Roden to fill Santander's spot on the roster, and he'll likely get plenty of chances to fill the void left by Varsho. We'll also likely see more of Straw and Nathan Lukes, who have both been surpring stars for the Blue Jays so far this year.
Veteran outfielder George Springer will also need to step up, and he did exactly that on Saturday when he hit two home runs in the Blue Jays' 8-7 win over the Athletics.
The Blue Jays moved to two games over .500 with the win, but Varsho's injury put a bit of a black cloud on it.
The Blue Jays have already survived without Varsho once this year, and it looks like they'll need to do it again.
