Throughout the current offseason, the Toronto Blue Jays had been making the necessary changes at the management level with hopes that the new faces could provide a fresh outlook for the team going forward. It appears as though the specific appointed roles for the last part of those changes have now been finalized.

As announced by the Blue Jays, Lou Iannotti was officially assigned as the Jays’ assistant hitting coach, Graham Johnson was named the team’s new bullpen coach, and Sam Greene was given the role as the Jays’ assistant pitching coach ahead of the 2025 season. All three will become key members under the guidance of Jays’ manager John Schneider going forward.

Iannotti brings with him his breath of coaching experience after spending several seasons serving various roles within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. In addition to Schneider, he will report to new head hitting coach David Popkins as well, along with working alongside fellow assistant hitting coach Hunter Mense.

Johnson comes over from the New York Yankees organization after serving the role as pitching coach for their Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the past three seasons. He was also a former pitching coach in the Houston Astros’ minor league system as well in the years prior. Johnson replaces Jeff Ware, who was let go by the Jays following the conclusion of the 2024 MLB season.

Finally, Greene is a McGill University graduate that was already a part of the Jays’ organization since 2021 and served as the senior pitching research specialist this past season. He is also a former pitcher for the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club in the Intercounty Baseball League. Taken upon his new role for 2025 will help Greene further expand and share his expertise across multiple avenues within the organization.

With everyone’s roles now firmly set, the Jays can now focus on addressing their remaining needs this offseason with hopes to bring back a winning product on the field when the 2025 regular season rolls around.
