Get ready, Blue Jays fans: You officially have playoff baseball coming north of the border. The Toronto Blue Jays have clinched a spot in the 2025 MLB Postseason after defeating the Kansas City Royals 8-5 Sunday afternoon.

It ended up being a grind to reach the Postseason after going through a four-game losing streak that saw three runs in 36 innings, a combined 15 hits, while allowing 28 runs (20 from Friday's nights game against the Royals)

The Blue Jays came out strong in the second inning, scoring three before adding on another three runs in the top of the fifth. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a bounceback game, racking up two RBIs and going 2-for-5. Eventually, Toronto added insurance in the top of the eighth inning before Hoffman picked up his 32nd save of the season.

Is it really a Blue Jays game if there isn't replay review controversy?

The day didn't come without controversy after another replay review caused another round of stress for the Blue Jays. Daulton Varsho made what seemed to be a diving catch which could've turned two. However, after the Royals challenged the play, the MLB review center deemed Varsho trapped the ball, which led to two runs for Kansas City.

Trey Yesavage made his second-career start and was dominant through the first four innings, no-hitting the Royals before allowing four runs on five hits.

Now that the playoff clinch is out of the way, the Blue Jays' focus turns to the AL East division title. The magic number for the division drops to four and could be down to three pending the result of the New York Yankees' game against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Blue Jays have a day off on Monday before returning home for their final homestand of the 2025 season, where they hope to celebrate their first division title in ten years.
