Blue Jays award multiple top prospects promotions during the All-Star break

Three prospects are moving up to the next level

During the All-Star Break, the Blue Jays decided to get some travelling over with while there were no minor games to be played. They made four promotions throughout their farm system during the break, starting with a significant one sending Khal Stephen to Double-A.

One other player is joining Stephen on the plane ride to New Hampshire as Victor Arias was also given the promotion there. Arias is the 29th ranked prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline. The 21 year old outfielder is having a great season once again, earning his spot at the next level.

In High-A this season, Arias has generated a 125 wRC+ with an OPS of .818 and five home runs. He has shown solid plate discipline, walking at a high rate of 11.3% and striking out at a decent 20.1% clip. He also adds 15 doubles and 36 RBI this season.

Two other bats are also finding news homes this week in Vancouver after doing well in Dunedin. Sam Shaw, the 24th ranked prospect in the organization per MLB Pipeline, has gotten promoted alongside Edward Duran. Both prospects are off to great starts and will be tested even further in High-A.

Shaw in particular is one of the top second base prospects in the organization, along with Adrian Pinto who is also in Vancouver. The 20 year old is easily having the best season of his proffessional career, posting a 131 wRC+ with an .801 OPS and a 16.4% walk rate to a 19.7% strikeout clip.

Duran has become the top catching prospect for the Blue Jays this season, despite remaining unranked. Duran has slugged a career high five home runs with a 133 wRC+ and an .817 OPS. His strikeout rate is also the highest its ever been at 21.3%. That still isn't that bad.

The Blue Jays' farm system is looking better and better. Now that the draft is over with, Toronto has an ever better system of prospects. It'll definitely get shaken up after the MLB Trade Deadline is over with. The movement being shown with these promotions though shows that they are developing these players well and have a great system.
