A stacked September will define the Blue Jays’ season in 2027

The Toronto Blue Jays unveiled their tentative schedule for the 2027 season earlier this week, much to everyone's surprise.. Toronto will begin its campaign on the road against the New York Yankees on March 25th, then make its Rogers Centre home debut on April 2nd against the Seattle Mariners.

The full 2027 Blue Jays schedule looks tough on paper from start to finish, but September appears to be a true gauntlet to close out the year. The Blue Jays open September 2027 with two contests against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field—a perennial house of horrors—as part of a four-game series that begins in late August.

They will then travel to Chicago for three games against the upstart White Sox, who profile as a legitimate contender after taking serious strides this season. They could be the team to beat in the AL Central.

After that, the Blue Jays return home to host two teams that always play them tough: the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros. Both possess the sort of top-end talent to steal a series on the road at any given time.

The last two weeks of 2027 could be a nightmare for the Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays’ final road trip of the year will first take them to Chavez Ravine for a 2025 World Series rematch against the juggernaut Los Angeles Dodgers. Will they be working on a fourth straight title by then? Will Tarik Skubal be pitching for them? It’s all possible.

Then, if that wasn’t hard enough, the Blue Jays will travel to the Pacific Northwest for a showdown with the Seattle Mariners. Runs will inevitably be hard to come by against their elite pitching staff. A rebound season from Cal Raleigh shouldn’t be ruled out, either, despite his struggles in 2026.

Toronto wraps up the season with two series at home against the Yankees and Rays, both of which figure to be in postseason contention given the number of long-term pieces on their rosters. Nothing like a dose of Aaron Judge and Junior Caminero to finish the year.

While baseball is unpredictable and past performance is never a guarantee of future results, September 2027 appears as if it will be one of the toughest months in recent memory. Every team the Blue Jays match up against is likely to be fighting for a playoff spot.

Will the 2027 Blue Jays be up to the task? It’s hard to know given how different their team could look next season. Several familiar faces could be gone, and, hopefully, replaced with high-quality new ones. It will be a challenge for whoever is on the team.

In the meantime, however, the Blue Jays need to focus on turning things around in 2026 before it’s too late.
