It seems that all the buzz and excitement was taken out of Toronto and Canada when the Seattle Mariners won both games on the road to start the 2025 ALCS against the Toronto Blue Jays to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

To make history feel worse for the Blue Jays, the franchise has never completed an 0-2 series comeback in ALCS history in three attempts. The Blue Jays' bats have gone cold after being red hot against the New York Yankees in the ALDS. However, franchise history must be made now for the 2025 Blue Jays.

As the scene now shifts to Seattle, the Mariners have all the momentum and one Mariner in particular will look to build off his own momentum as he made some history in his home country in Game 2.

Naylor hits historic home run against his home town team in Game 2

Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor is a proud Canadian from Mississauga, Ontario, which is just outside of Toronto. During Game 2, Naylor hit a historic home run against the team he grew up watching.

Naylor became the first Canadian to hit a postseason home run against the Blue Jays in Canada. As if the Mariners' 10-3 win wasn't bad enough for the Blue Jays, the home run by Naylor added some more salt in the wounds.

Naylor had friends and family at the Mariners' Game 2 win at Rogers Centre. With support in the building, Naylor delivered going 3-for-4 with two RBI's. "It's kind of like a little kid moment for me," Naylor said. "It's been super fun to play in front of my friends and family and play in this ballpark."

A proud graduate of St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School, Naylor is making his country proud at 28 years old, although that's likely the only success they would like to see the Mariners have the rest of October. Some Blue Jay legends Naylor got to watch growing up are Roy Halladay, Carlos Delgado, Jose Bautista and Vernon Wells. Naylor has also worn a Canadian Flag pin on his belt to show his country pride even more.

Naylor could get even more support from the Canadian contingent of fans when the series shifts to Seattle as many people from the province of British Columbia province will make their way south of the border as they share a border with the state of Washington. The Blue Jays will hope it's not only Naylor fans who show up, as they need to turn their luck around in Seattle to have the opportunity to bring the series back to Toronto.
