The Toronto Blue Jays have a huge Trade Deadline approaching and they are looking like possible buyers. There are a handful of players that the Blue Jays should target, making sense towards preserving some of their top prospects in the organization.

Here are three trade targets that are heating up and would not cost too much prospect capital, while boosting this teams' playoff chances.

The Blue Jays should target these three emerging players at the Trade Deadline.

David Bednar

Jeff Hoffman has struggled recently as the closer and David Bednar is rebounding nicely so far in 2025. Bednar struggled in 2024, and was optioned to Triple-A at the beginning of this season, but he has rebounded nicely and is looking like a big high leverage reliever on the market that is a fit for the Blue Jays.

This season, Bednar has posted a 4.34 ERA across 18.2 innings with a 12.05 K/9. His FIP is very impressive at 2.76, along with a 1.34 WHIP, stemming from a 6.3% walk rate and .270 opposing batting average. Bednar could help Toronto in high leverage situations for the right price. Bednar will likely not cost a top 10 prospect, so Toronto could definitely put together a package for the two time All-Star.

Jesus Sanchez

Adding a left handed bat feels like a must for this team and the outfield is an area that a left handed bat could easily slide in. Jesus Sanchez from the Marlins is a bat that could definitely help the Blue Jays. Coming off a strong May, Sanchez is looking like a solid target this deadline and could be a big outfield addition.

With Anthony Santander down with a shoulder injury and Daulton Varsho dealing with hamstring issues, the outfield is stretched thin. Nathan Lukes and Jonatan Clase have been playing well recently off the bench, but for a playoff run, securing a guy like Sanchez would make the group that much better.

On the year, Sanchez is batting .256 with four home runs and has driven in 15 runs. His OPS is up to .734 with a wRC+ of 106 and a 21.4% strikeout rate. He is an above average hitter and he could really help this team stay consistent at the plate.

Tyler Anderson

Toronto are without a southpaw in the starting rotation and they could use the services of a soft tossing lefty in Los Angeles. Tyler Anderson would be a rental piece which also makes it likely he will be dealt from the Angels this deadline. Adding a lefty with solid numbers like his would be a nice way to mix up the Blue Jays current crop of right handed throwers in the rotation.

This season, Anderson currently has a 3.39 ERA across 61 innings with a 6.79 K/9. His WHIP is at 1.21, and he's holding the opposition to a .214 batting average, to go along with a 9.2% walk rate. Anderson might be the cheapest of them all to acquire and doing so would really help this team out, even if he would be one of three starters the Blue Jays have who are set to test free agency after the 2025 season.
