The Toronto Blue Jays were able to lock up their superstar first baseman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., to a 14-year contract extension worth $500 million.
Guerrero's extension is a move that should help the team win both now and in the future. With the latter in mind, here's a look at three big name free agents the team could target to pair alongside Guerrero.
3 big name free agents Blue Jays can pair with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Kyle Schwarber
The first star free agent who could be a strong target for the Blue Jays is Kyle Schwarber, who, despite being a full-time designated hitter, is know for demolishing baseballs.

The 32-year-old Schwarber has .230 batting average in his career and has mashed 290 home runs in his career. This season, he has a .295 batting average with six home runs and 12 RBI through 44 at-bats, and has a 1.188 OPS.
The Blue Jays should do everything in their power to bring Schwarber in for a short-term deal to try to lengthen the offense.
Kyle Tucker
The second star free agent that could be a strong target is Tucker.
Through 59 at-bats this season, the 28-year-old has five home runs and 16 RBI with three stolen bases and a 1.130 OPS. He has an impressive .322 batting average this season, and should have plenty of suitors since he'll be hitting free agency in the middle of his prime.

He was projected to be the No. 2 free agent this summer prior to Guerrero signing his extension, so he's now the top dog on the market. He'll likely be seeking a multi-year contract that's 200+ million, so, after the Guerrero extension, it's likley that the only way the Blue Jays will be able to get him if he elects to sign a short-term deal with a high AAV.
Luis Arraez
The third and final free agent that the Blue Jays should look to target is Arraez. At 28 years old, he has proven to be an effective hitter and has an impressive .322 batting average over the course of his career. He's won a batting title the past three years with three different teams (making him the first player in MLB history to accomplish that feat) and is hitting .283 with four RBI this season.

Any of these three players could help elevate the Blue Jays to true contender status.
Now that the Blue Jays have certainty with their star player, it should be easier for them to convince free agents to join them on a long-or-short-term deal instead of just missing out like they did this past offseason.
