With almost a month’s worth of spring training in the bag, we've seen plenty of baseball out of the Blue Jays this spring.

The Jays have fared quite well (they've gone 14-10 so far this spring), and we've also seen some flare with both their pitchers and hitters. Their 148 runs scored put them them among the top-five in the Grapefruit League, while the 130 runs they've given up have them just outside the top-five.

Some Jays players like Ernie Clement, Myles Straw, Alan Roden, Mason Fluharty and Addison Barger have been performing beyond expectations this spring.

But for some other players, this spring hasn't gone as well.

Here, we will take a look at three Blue Jays players who have had an awful spring training so far but will hopefully turn things around by Opening Day.

It doesn’t help that Springer has seemingly been on the decline for the past couple seasons.

After averaging 30+ home runs and 80+ RBI per season, Springer has seen his production dip to a 20-homer, 60+ RBI average over the past couple seasons. More concerning was the fact that the 35-year-old outfielder put up his worst season in 2024, hitting a career-low .220 with just a .674 OPS.

With Springer out to prove that last season was just an outlier, his performance this spring has raised some eyebrows. In 12 games, he has batted a dismal .107 with a .467 OPS, along with four runs scored, one double and two RBI. Could Father Time have finally caught up to the former four-time All-Star?

Well Jays fans can have a little sign of relief as Springer recently said that he's actually been working on something mechanical with his hitting. That process will hopefully help him round into form when the regular season rolls around.

He's shown good discipline this spring, as he has seven walks to go with his five strikeouts. So let’s give him a couple a weeks of the 2025 before making any conclusions about whether or not it's time to panic.
