Unlike the previous few years, the Toronto Blue Jays don't have to go through a gauntlet of juggernauts in April.

The 2026 MLB schedule was unveiled on Tuesday afternoon and both the team and fans of the Toronto Blue Jays should be smiling ear to ear after seeing how next season kicks off. The Blue Jays schedule in April is much less daunting next year than it has been in years past.

The Blue Jays open the season on Thursday, March 26 at home against the Athletics. After an off-day on Friday, the series resumes for two more games on Saturday and Sunday. The Colorado Rockies are in town for three games, before Toronto goes on the road for the first time, with a quick three game stop in Chicago to play the White Sox.

The Blue Jays then play six more at home and a total of 12 of their first 15 will be played inside the confines of the Rogers Centre, which will help them avoid any nasty early spring weather. Those final six games as mentioned will be against the LA Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins. Other opponents in the month include a visit to Milwaukee, Arizona and LA to play the Angels. They'll round out the month with another home stand, this time hosting Cleveland April 24-26 and their first AL East matchup comes against the Red Sox April 27-29.

Compare that to this years' schedule where the Blue Jays had to face a plethora of division opponents right out of the shoot with two series against Baltimore, two against Boston, one against the Yankees, all before the end of April. They also had games against the Mets, the Braves, the Astros and the Mariners thrown in as well.

It's no surprise the Blue Jays were just 14-16 in April and only just getting above .500 by the end of May, considering the quality of the opponents while the Blue Jays roster was still in flux and players were trying to find their footing.

While there is no guarantee any of the teams mentioned above will be as bad next year as they are this year, it does help that Toronto will get a lot of home dates early in the season and they aren't playing a heavily tilted schedule against division opponents right away. However, they will need to take advantage of those games as the end of the schedule doesn't do them any major favours.

Toronto have just nine home games in the month of September while playing 15 games on the road that month. They will end the year with an interleague series against the Cincinnati Reds September 25-27.
