Trevor Bauer confirms phone meeting with Blue Jays tonight
Free agent hurler Trevor Bauer confirmed he has a phone meeting with the Toronto Blue Jays and their pitching coach later tonight.
Trevor Bauer posted a video on his Twitter feed earlier today documenting that he has to get home for his 6 pm phone call with the Blue Jays pitching coach and high performance coach. Bauer stated he is going to check in with them to see what they have to offer so that is moving forward.
It was reported earlier this week that Bauer and his camp are reportedly seeking a multi-year deal in excess of five years with an average annual income of $36-$40 million per season. Bauer is the top free agent pitcher on the market following a Cy Young award season with the Cincinnati Reds in 2020.
The Blue Jays are looking for pitching upgrades this offseason, however, they have not been linked to Bauer as much as some of the other free agents available. Bauer and Hyun Jin Ryu would instantly form one of the best starting pitching duos in the game if Toronto did find a way to land the 29-year old former first rounder.

Bauer and his agent Rachel Luba have been very active on social media throughout the entire free agent process. The hurler specializes in exciting fan bases with his innuendos and tweets about potential landing spots.
MLB Trade Rumors predicted earlier this offseason that Bauer would sign a 4-year/ $128 million dollar pact in their annual Top 50 MLB Free Agent Predictions. It would appear that Bauer will far exceed that projected figure before it is all said and done.
The Blue Jays have been linked to a plethora of available players and seemed like the odds on favourite to land Ha-Seong Kim before the infielder agreed to a pact with the Padres. Thus far, Robbie Ray is the only free agent that Toronto has managed to sign on the dotted line.
I am not convinced that Bauer is coming to Toronto but it is evident the organization is doing their due diligence in readying the roster for 2021.
