Blue Jays former pitcher suffers brain hemorrhage during game
Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage during the 6th inning of last night’s White Sox/Astros contest.
According to a media release from the Chicago White Sox hurler Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage when a ruptured aneurysm caused a brain bleed during their game yesterday. Farquhar remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition as the team requested respect and privacy for the Farquhar family during this tough time.
The native of Pembroke Pines, Florida was selected by the Blue Jays in the 10th round, 309th overall in the 2008 amateur draft from the University of Louisiana. The Jays would deal Farquhar along with Trystan Magnuson to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Rajai Davis at the conclusion of the 2010 campaign.
Less than six months later Farquhar would be re-acquired by the Jays from the Athletics this time in exchange for pitcher David Purcey. He made his MLB debut in 2011 with the Jays making three relief appearances as a September call-up before being claimed off waivers by you guessed it the Athletics in the summer of 2012.
