"Baseball America has released its updated midseason prospect rankings and Toronto Blue Jays farmhand Vladimir Guerrero Jr. catapulted from the 16th spot to 2nd on the overall rankings."

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be promoted from the Lansing Lugnuts to the Single-A Dunedin Blue following the All-Star games Futures Game in Miami next week. Guerrero along with teammate Bo Bichette will take their talents to the baby Jays.

Vladdy Jr. is currently slashing .316/.409/.480 with 7 round trippers and 6 stolen bases in 71 contests with Lansing this season. The 18-year old has also improved his walk to strikeout ratio this season drawing 40 walks while fanning only 34 times.

The only prospect ahead of Guerrero on their rankings is Chicago White Sox blue chipper Yoan Moncada who the Pale Hose acquired in the Chris Sale trade with the Red Sox.

Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Alford fell four places on the list to 38th, however, he has been sidelined with a broken hamate bone in his wrist that surely affected his place on the list.

More from Toronto Blue Jays News

Bo Bichette jumped 49 spots coming in at 44th on the list, a far cry from the 93rd spot he debuted at earlier in the season. Bichette is hitting .393 over the course of two seasons in professional baseball between Rookie and Single-A ball.

Lourdes Gourriel slipped to 90th from 68th but he has also been sidelined for most of the season with hamstring issues. Gourriel has returned to action recently and is batting .170 in 15 games with the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Rowdy Tellez and Sean Reid-Foley both fell off the list after struggling during the first half of the 2017 campaign. Tellez has struggled mightily with the Buffalo Bisons slashing .202/.270/.327 over his first 73 games.
