Buffalo Bisons vs Gwinnett Braves (Loss 2-6)
Daniel Norris had a rough go in some messy conditions Wednesday. Taking the loss after allowing 4 earned runs in 7 innings of work which included allowing a homerun to Mycal Jones in the 7th. The 3rd inning was the big let down for the Herd as they allowed 3 runs on some messy play. A bunt went terribly wrong due to the poor field conditions and lead to Norris slipping and Ochinko miss playing the ball. Ochinko was quoted commenting on the field conditions that made things difficult. He said “playing in this is tough, but both teams are competing in the same conditions.” Ochinko hit a 2-run homer during this game to account for the only runs for the Herd. All together poor weather and a lack of production lead to the Bisons loss Wednesday.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats @ Portland Sea Dogs (Win 2-0)
Fisher Cat Pitching was stellar Wednesday. The Cat pitching tossed a combined 7 hit shutout. John Anderson got the ball rolling as he pitched 6.2 innings and gave up all 7 hits but allowed no runs. Chad Girodo pitched in a hold that was good for 1.1 innings and then Wil Browning came on to get the save in the 9th. As impressive as the shut out is I thought that the fact none of the pitchers allowed a free pass all game was the most impressive. It is not very often you see that at this level but it goes to show what working the strike zone can do for you in this game. The amazing pitching performance kept this pitchers duel close.
Dalton Pompey continues to impress as he went 2-4 with an RBI Wednesday. He is now batting a gaudy .378 for his time with the Cats. Batting behind him Dwight Smith Jr. also collected 2 hits and an RBI as he continues to roll on his now All-Star campaign. The 2 RBI singles would be the only runs scored by the Cats but would prove to be plenty of run support as the pitching continued to silence the Sea Dog’s bats.
Line of the game
John Anderson 6.2 IP, 7 hits, 0 runs, 0 Walks, 4 K’s

Dunedin Blue Jays vs Brevard County Manatees (Loss 12-3)
Any night when you have 2 pitchers give up 6 earned runs each you know that it has been an off night. D-Jays starting pitcher Jairo Labourt got hit hard over 5 innings of work and allowed 6 runs on 8 hits. He also did not help himself as by walking 3 batters. Alberto Tirado would come on in relief and throw a solid 3 innings of work to no allow a runs. Once Tirado left the game the wheels came completely off the track as Matt Dermody would be left out in the last inning to get three outs but allowed 6 runs before it was over.
Offensively there was not much cooking. A couple timely hits by Mitch Nay and L.B. Dantzler would plate the only D-Jay runs. All 3 runs came in the 6th inning which looked to be the start of a possibly rally at the time. Going into the last 3 innings the score was 3-6. The solid bullpen showing by the Manatees coupled with a blow out 9th inning allowed solidified the D-Jays loss.
Line of the game
Alberto Tirado 3 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 Walks, 1 K’s

Lansing Lugnuts @ South Bend Cubs (Win 3-2)
What a night for pitchers in South Bend. A low scoring affair between the Lugnuts and Cubs led to bonus baseball Wednesday. Starlyn Suriel got the Lugnuts off on the right foot as he lead the way through 7 innings. He would allow 8 hits and walk 2 but limited the damage to just 2 earned runs. Carlos Ramirez looked impressive as he pitched the remaining 3 innings and picked up the win. His solid performance allowed the Lugnuts to hold off the Cubs to eventually complete the win.
Game winning home runs in the 10th are just one of the things we love about baseball. Chris Carlson picked a great time to hit his 2nd homer of the season as he popped one over the left field wall Wednesday in the 10th. The first 2 Lugnut runs came from RBI singles by Boomer Collins and Michael De La Cruz. De La Cruz would end up with a 3-4 night. The Lugnuts pitched their way to victory and had just enough timely hitting to squeak out the win Wednesday.
Line of the night
Starlyn Suriel 7 IP, 8 Hits, 2 Run, 2 Walk, 4 K’s
Carlos Ramirez 3 IP, 3 Hits, 0 Run, 1 Walk, 2 K’s

Jonathan Harris got in a quick start and allowed 1 run over the first 3 innings. Jon Wandling would come on and allow 2 runs in the 7th which would put the game out of reach for the offense. Wandling tossed 5 innings but lost it in the 7th after looking really solid. He allowed only 4 hits and did not walk a batter during his work. Brandon Hinkle would pitch the last inning and allowed 1 hit and struck out 1 to close out the game.
Indians pitching blew right through the Canadians lineup. Indians pitching allowed only 6 hits and 3 walks through out the game. This was just not enough for the C’s to put anything together. All the hits were just to spread apart. Gunnar Heidt and Kevin Garcia collected 2 hits each. Garcia also collected the only C’s extra base hit with a double.
Line of the night
Jon Wandling 5 IP, 3 Hits, 1 Run, 0 Walk, 1 K’s
